ACT stands for ALCS Challenges Human Trafficking. For a more full overview of what we do and why we meet, please read the description below the meeting information. Our first meeting is going to be this Saturday, at ALCS in the LMC from 6:30-9:00 pm. We will be following guidelines of physical distance and mask wearing. Our first meeting will be an overview and welcome, giving insight to the scope of trafficking and why Mr. White & Mrs. Gruchow care about it and how God moved in our hearts from the start of the group to now, and WORSHIP will be a focus as we kick off the year! We also want input on what topics you would like to learn about, to inform who we invite to share and what documentaries we consider watching. If you can't be there but want to give us ideas, contact Mrs. Gruchow. If any of you are able to provide pre-packaged snacks or drinks, please let me know.If getting a ride to the meetings is an issue, please ask and we'll try to connect you with a family that lives near you! We're really looking forward to our times together!Mrs. Gruchow and Mr. White
Dates for this semester:
September 25, October 23, November 20, December 18What is ACT?We meet monthly to learn about this evil injustice from people that combat trafficking in Madison and around the world. Over the years we have heard from missionaries, police detectives, business entrepreneurs, prayer warriors, social workers, local advocates who work with women who are exploited, people involved in the Olympics, and many more. We start each meeting building community with each other, then have a teaching and discussion segment, and end with prayer, worship and time to share out at the end again. We know we are exposing the students to an immense darkness, but we also know that when we lift up our concerns, emotions, and prayers to the Father, He moves mountains! We don't take it lightly that it's heavy things we are discussing and will share the content of each meeting ahead of time so that students and parents can decide if they think a certain topic or speaker will be okay to hear from for each individual. We have been a part of the ALCS high school for about 12 years, and it has been Curtis' and my pleasure to watch God work in the lives of our students. It truly is a highlight of our teaching career. There is something sacred about a group of teenagers giving up one Saturday a month to focus on God and learn about the outcasts, those most dear to Jesus. I can't believe the amount of students this year in High School that have shown interest in joining ACT. Please let me know if you have any questions and if you have any connections to people that fight trafficking whom we could invite to share.
Our school has had to go to distance learning in some grade levels over the past two weeks due to the surge in COVID cases and exposures after Labor Day weekend. This has limited the amount of time teachers have had with students face-to-face. As a result, we will push back midterm grade reporting by one week. Midterms will be posted in the Family Portal on Sept 29th by the end of the day.
The end of the first quarter will remain the same on Oct 22, with report cards being posted Oct 29.
Thursday, October 7, will be our Photo Retake Day. If your student was not present (or not yet enrolled) on the original photo date, this is their chance to be photographed. You may also choose to get a retake if you were not happy with the original photo for any reason.
- If you would like your student(s) to be photographed that day, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know their name and grade level(s).
- Please be sure your student knows they should be photographed as well.
- If you received a photo package, please send that package back in to be given to the photographer. You will get the same package with your retake.
If you would like to become part of the worship or tech teams for our chapels, please talk to Mr. White or Miss Haynie. This opportunity is open for any middle or high school student. Tech training is available for those that may want it.
The ALCS fall production of Shakespeare's Macbeth and Twelfth Night will be on Saturday, October 30 at 4 pm.

Abundant Life Christian School is seeking adults who would be interested in substitute teaching. Substitute teachers need a four-year degree, a desire to serve students, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. ALCS is offering in-person classes and safety precautions are well-established to help keep teachers and students safe. If you are looking for an opportunity to earn a little extra money, make a difference in the lives of kids, and have flexibility in your work schedule, please prayerfully consider substitute teaching. Contact ALCS for more information at 608-221-1520 or firstname.lastname@example.org or complete our Substitute Teacher Application.
