Band Program

The band program at Abundant Life Christian School offer students a way to study music through wind and percussion instruments. 

Our program begins in the fourth grade, and is open to all who desire to participate through twelfth grade.
 

4th & 5th Grade Band

The Fourth and Fifth Grade Band is a beginning group that starts with hand chimes. Learning hand chimes—a sturdy instrument made of aluminum—is an effective way to teach eye and hand coordination to non-music readers. It also has a high success rate in learning how to play as a group and is a natural step leading to music literacy. In a hand chime choir, every ringer is important. Beautiful music is made when ringers work together as a team and are tuned in to each other. It is a wonderful precursor to Middle School Band and meets once per week as a regular 45-minute class period during the school day. They will perform twice a year at formal programs that are held in the fall and in the spring. 
 

Middle School Band

The Middle School Band (Grades 6–8) is an ensemble that is focused on continuing skill development and the refinement of working together as an ensemble. The band meets twice per week as a regular 45-minute class period during the school day and performs in two formal programs. Students coming into the band are encouraged to have one to two years of playing experience on their instrument in addition to taking private lessons. Arrangements can be made for students who need an instrument to rent from the school.
 

High School Jazz Band

Our High School Jazz Band (Grades 9–12) is an active performing ensemble. The band meets twice per week as a regular 45-minute class period during the school day, learning both concert and jazz band repertoire, and performs in two formal programs a year. Students who are interested in pursuing conducting experience will have opportunities to learn how to lead an ensemble. Students coming into the band are encouraged to have one to two years of playing experience on their instrument in addition to taking private lessons. Arrangements can be made for students who need an instrument to rent from the school.
