Tuition & Scholarships

ALCS tuition is priced to offer an excellent education at an affordable price. A scholarship fund has been established to assist those who need assistance to cover the cost of tuition.

A diversified approach has been adopted to broaden the ALCS financial support base. Programs have been established that are designed to involve as many different people and organizations as possible. Each of the following programs plays a role in keeping tuition as affordable as possible.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Annual Fund: "Blessed To Be A Blessing" annual fund gifts are the primary means of covering the shortfall between tuition/fees and the cost of educating each student. Every ALCS family is asked to prayerfully consider supporting the annual fund by joining one of the three teams explained below.

Two Mites Team
o Based on Mark 12:41-44
o Designed for families who genuinely need the subsidy to afford ALCS education
o Gifts of any amount qualify

Second Mile Team
o Based on Mark 5:41
o Designed for families who are financially blessed enough to pay the full cost of ALCS education for their own children
o Gifts of $1,000/student qualify

Above and Beyond Team
o Based on II Corinthians 9:6-11
o Designed for families who have been financially prospered by God and desire to bless other families above and beyond the cost of their own children's education
o Gifts exceeding $1,000/student qualify

All unrestricted gifts to the "Blessed To Be A Blessing" annual fund are fully tax deductible.

Financial Aid/Scholarships: The ALCS Scholarship/Financial Aid Fund exists to assist families in affording the cost of ALCS tuition. Scholarships and Financial Aid at ALCS are awarded with the assistance of FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment. Financial Aid applications for the fall semester are due by May 1st of the preceding year. Late applications may be submitted as long as funding is available. Unrestricted gifts to the ALCS Scholarship Fund are fully tax deductible.

Serve-A-Thon: ALCS will be holding its Tenth Annual Serve-A-Thon on Saturday, April 17, 2010, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. ALCS Middle and High School students will be asked to volunteer an 8-hour day of service to others and to seek pledges for each hour that they work. Those participating work in teams accompanied by an adult driver and team leader. Each team will be performing acts of service such as spring cleaning, yard work, etc. for widows and families in need.

Designated Donations: Cash gifts designated for specific needs are possible for larger budget items in most ALCS departments. Designated gift lists are available for academics, art, athletics/physical education, band, computer lab, elementary classes, library media center, math, music, science, social studies, Spanish & general school needs. Contact Mr. Butler to request specific lists.

Planned Giving: The greatest acts of financial stewardship often occur through planned gifts. Wise use of planned gifts can save thousands of dollars in estate and income taxes. The ALCS Planned Giving Program exists to assist donors in making gifts of stock, insurance, or other appreciated assets, endowment gifts and estate planning gifts including gifts made through wills and trusts. Contact the ALCS Development Office to explore how a planned gift might benefit you and ALCS.

SCRIP: SCRIP is simply a specific business gift certificate purchased through ALCS at NO EXTRA COST TO YOU! ALCS receives a percentage on each certificate purchased. Strategically planning your shopping to utilize SCRIP benefits both ALCS and your family. Choose from more than 50 participating companies. 90% of the profits from your SCRIP purchases are credited toward your family's Building Use Fee. There are two ways to buy SCRIP:

1. GAS & GROCERY CASH & CARRY: Scrip for participating gas and grocery stores are available for immediate purchase through the ALCS Office during regular business hours.

2. SCRIP: Scrip for all participating vendors may be ordered according to the published schedule and will be available for pick-up within one week of ordering.

Royalty/Rebate Programs:
Pick'n Save "We Care" program generates 1% royalty to ALCS on all purchases made with the Pick 'n Save Advantage Card by customers who have designated ALCS as their nonprofit organization of choice. The ALCS "We Care" Account Number is 012650.

Target "Take Charge of Education" program generates 1% royalty to ALCS on all purchases made with the Target Guest Card. Purchases must be made with the Guest Card, so if credit cards are a temptation for you, then please pass on this program.

Magazine/Home Delivery Product Fundraiser: This activity was conducted Aug. 26 - Sept. 10, 2009. Our vendor guarantees to match the lowest subscription price available directly from the publisher for all magazines listed in their sales brochure. Again, this year a selection of products ranging from greeting cards to candy will be available for sale in addition to the magazines. A strong incentive program is built in to the program to increase the fun for every student who participates. For grades 4K-7, 60% of the profits earned by each class are designated for use in that classroom. For grades 8-12, 60% of the profits earned go into student accounts designated to pay for the 8th Grade trip and Senior Class trip.

Market Day: Each month during the school year families may order food products through the Market Day program. Orders are placed in advance and must be picked up at the school. Market Day proceeds are designated to encourage ALCS staff to advance their training by providing partial tuition reimbursement for classes and workshops. The goal is to provide continuous improvement in the quality of instruction. Profits exceeding $2,500 will be used to purchase books and software for the Library Media Center.

Box Tops For Education: ALCS collects General Mills "Box Tops For Education" to help support our athletics programs. Please save your "Box Tops For Education" seals from Big G Cereals, Betty Crocker? Fruit Snack, Yoplait? Yogurt, Lloyd's? Barbeque Buckets, Betty Crocker? Products and bring them to ALCS.

A "No Annual Fee" VISA that generates a 1% of charges royalty to ALCS automatically is available through the website, "www.boxtops4education.com/how/index.asp". If credit cards are a temptation for you to overspend, then we strongly urge you not to use or even apply for this card.

Campbell's Soup Labels: ALCS collects labels from Campbell's Soup products to help support our athletics programs. Please save your labels from Campbell's Soup products and turn them in to the Main Office at ALCS.

Milk Moola: ALCS collects caps or bag tops from Nature's Touch, Kwik-Ade, and Kwik Quencher to help support the scholarship program. Please WASH and save your bag tops and caps from the above items and turn them in to the school's drop box by the cafeteria.

Matching Funds: ALCS has been tremendously blessed by matching funds that double the value of donations to the "Blessed To Be A Blessing" annual fund and the Financial Aid Fund. Donations received during the eligible period multiply the impact of your gift. Because ALCS is accredited, some parents have successfully multiplied their gift 4 or 6 times by applying for matching gifts through their employer. When the employer matches or double matches your gift and both gifts are matched by the ALCS matching fund, the benefit can be 400-600% of your original donation.
